Semi-independence or Supported Accommodation Placements:
The aim of the semi-independence programme is to give parents the opportunity of building on the skills that they acquired DURING THE COURT DIRECTED ASSESSMENTS. They are then able to demonstrate the necessary skills and evidence their ability to live independently in the community. The basis of our programme is a formal system of needs assessment and care planning, a key-worker system and regular reviews. We will work with parents to assess their needs and devise individual care plans.
Our core aim will be the achievement of skills that will allow them to move on to independent living in the community and to feel confident about caring for themselves and their baby. Our placement plans will be based on the principal that they are designed and progressed in a manner that is empowering to the young parent and that increases self-esteem and confidence. Clear interim targets and goals will be set and assessed regularly dependent on the capacity of each young parent. The programme provides medium to long term care. Generally, we will not accept referrals for placements less than 3 months duration.
